Trew's Fresh 48 | Pensacola Birth Photographer

When I was doing a newborn session for my friends (turned clients) Tim + Rachel, Tim and I were chatting about home projects and I mentioned wanting to find someone to do so custom built-ins. He promptly told me I needed to call Matt Banks with Banks Construction. A couple of months (and a major water damage incident) later, I reached out to Matt for a quote on both the built-ins and repairs.

After seeing the birth canvases in my home office, Matt told me that he and his wife were expecting and asked for my card. By the end of my project, I had a gorgeous wall of built-ins and a new Fresh 48 on the books.

I love that MATT initiated hiring a photographer. I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen before. It’s always moms-to-be who contact me. Guys don’t generally value professional photography like women do, so it struck me a super thoughtful and sweet. Like he did it because he knew it would make his wife happy.

It was a lovely and relaxed session. And man, do Matt and Cheyenne make gorgeous babies…

The tiny and dark postpartum recovery rooms at Sacred Heart Hospital are always a challenge to shoot in. Natural window light is king, but it’s hard to know what you’re going to have to work with here. Every room is different and some even have windows that look out over the atrium (providing no natural light at all). I’ve been studying and experimenting with different lighting techniques and I’ve been super happy with the results lately.
