The Kapfers | Paris Family Photographer

Whenever I travel, I find myself wishing I had a family to photograph. New scenery, different light… it calls to me. So before I went to France last year, I reached out to Katie. She’s a wonderful family photographer from New York, who married her French beau (Pyk) and now lives in Paris with him and their (most adorable) little chick-a-dee Siena. We connected on Instagram a while ago and I asked if she’d be up for coffee or a quick family session while I was in town.

She enthusiastically agreed to both! We met for coffee one of the first days I was in Paris, chatted about birth, business, cameras, Paris… it was lovely. And a few days before I left, we met up again at Église Saint Sulpice (the church from the DaVinci Code) and took a walk through the changing leaves in Les Jardins du Luxembourg. It was cold and grey, but beautiful all the same. I also couldn’t resist practicing my newly acquired (and very amateur) video skills. Click play above to see my first attempt at a family film.

When Katie mentioned her dad would be in town when we’d planned to do her photo session, of course I said she should bring him along for pictures as well. Pyk had to jet off to work before too long, so we finished up with a few pictures of Grandpa with his girls. Then we took Siena to daycare (French daycare… so cute and CLEAN!) and went for breakfast at Treize.

Thanks Katie (and Pyk & John), for sharing your family with me, breakfast, and good conversation. See you next time!
